Default Website loading issues - have to refresh

Hello,

I have recently had trouble loading webpages (in both Firefox and IE) and I find that I often have to refresh the page at least once, sometimes more, for the page to load. I just got a new computer with Vista and loaded Office2007 and some other smaller programs. The computer is a Dell Vostro 1400. I have just gotten back from vacation and I used this computer for a few days before going on vacation and don't recall this happening. All the software was loaded before I left as well. Could this be an ISP issue? I have a cable modem hooked up to a D-Link wireless router. Also, I have noticed that a lot of my Yahoo and Google ads are German or relate to Germany, which makes me think that may relate to the problem. I am in the US. I appreciate any suggestions or advice.

Thank you.

Many possibilities come to mind. First, I would resent everything - shut down and unplug from the power your modem, router and computer, and disconnect the Internet and ethernet connections. Reconnect the modem, and wait for the lights to come back on before reconnecting and turning on your router. Once your router indicates it is back online, reconnect your PC and power it up.

How secure is your wireless connection, and do you have anti-virus and anti-spyware software installed?

Hello,

Thanks for the help. I do have anti-spyware, virus protection through Ad-aware and AVG. I had a 10- or 12-digit WEP key security on my router. I unplugged my router and am now running the cable modem directly into my laptop and the problem has disappeared. Any idea why my router (D-Link DI-524) would cause me to experience these issues and why ads for German companies would show up? Should I somehow reset my router? Or is it due to Vista? Thanks again for the help.

The router could need a firmware update, or it is possible there was a power or network outage while you were away. Typically, your router should come back up normally, however you may sometimes encounter issues after such a situation.
