Default Website hosting problem

My question is this: I've designed a website for a pianist based in Bath (UK). I want to upload it, but I dont want to have an annual charge going from my account to pay for it and then billing him from my company to him to recover the money. Whats the best way round this?

Also, any tips on a good easy to use hosting company? I'm thinking about using oneandone - these have been recommeneded a couple of times.

Kind regards,

Joel Harper

Hi Joel

Basically with any hosting package you get what you pay for.

There are a number of ways around settling and billing for hosting: You could get your customer to set up an annual standing order to your account a few days before the renewal is due; pay monthly instead of annually. It is best to do a bit of homework and research on to what host can best meet your requirements.

I have heard a lot of bad feedback ref 1&1. I use a company in Nottingham called GN Hosting and I have also been recommended BladeHost which both provide good basic packages with a wealth of features. Theres also Sector Link who are based in America but have great customer support. I use them for one of the ASP applications I implemented last year.

You can draft a contract to have your client paying either monthly or annually for the hosting. Always give ample time warning before the expiry as I always send my bill 15 days before due date. As for hosting, it all depends on your requirement. I have been doing it since 1997 for my clients with all different requirements. Just go for one that suits your needs.
