Default FILE DECRYPTION PROBLEM - URGENT

Hello friends. I have a problem that calls for immediate attention. I have folders and files encrypted on a partition. The drive needed to be rebuilt (formated), and this was done without saving the key, or decrypting the folders and files prior. Does anyone know of a simple way to gain access to this files?

Thank you for any help. Please respond to davido@charter.net.

Default you are inviting spammers

By posting your e mail address here on the web you are inviting every spammer bot in the world to harvest it. If you can change your posting, ask people to send you a PM. That way you will get the messages without having your own e mail address up front and center.

The other thing you can do is get a "throw away" e mail address like yahoo or hotmail and use that one in any postings on line. It will get the zillions of spam e mails, of course, but they won't be coming into your own computer.

Good luck.

Default

Do you know how the files were encrypted. If they were truly encrypted there isn't really any way of decrypting them without the key. Even low bit encryption is extremely difficult to break.

Default FILE DECRYPTION PROBLEM - URGENT

You are in deep trouble if you have any important files. There is no simple solution.

The first place I would go is the the people that created the software as they will know how the file encryption works and may be able to provide some clues or possibly work on de-crypting them for you. (It will cost)

Otherwise you are going to have to bite the bullet and make sure you never do it again.

Default Encrypted file recovery

There is a way to recover encrypted files. If you launch Backup and make a backup of the files/folders the encryption of the backup will be created using the Backup admin's certificate. Simply do a restore of the files/folders back onto the system and they will now have been encrypted using the new key which will allow the admin to access them once again.
