SPAM attach advice

Hello! My poor customers (and I) have this local Jaycees guy filling out our websites' online forms with SPAM about the Jaycess upcoming events. I"ve asked him to quit but he keeps going. He says we are a public website and he can do what he wants. Our websites are business websites and none of us like this.

What can be done? I reported him to the Jaycees national organization who just referred it back to him and he told ME to stop sending HIM mail. This is terribly annoying. Does anyone have some ideas other than taking our forms down?

Keep spamming him every 2hours with anything and everything you can think of. Find some really annoying websites with forms on it and sign his e-mail address up to it. Sign him up for some gay adds etc. He'll soon get the message lol.

Seriously though you may want to find a more secure mail script. See if you can add a validation check that you can use to stop him from posting on your website. Or maybe an IP address blocker.

If you know his ip address, and it's on a Linux server, .htaccess can do wonders. If he's on dialup, that's probably not going to work, so you'd need a little different solution.

Well, this problem is only from this particular guy, you can have an if condition checking a particular word before it reaches the save or mailing function. Later, you can add more words to it if you find more spammers. This is how people build spam filtering softwares. I've posted an article about spam on my website. Hope it will help...

Hi,

If he doesn t have a dynamic IP, you can block him using iptables (iptables -A INPUT -p tcp -s xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx -j REJECT for example), using @refers , using .htaccess , or php scripting.

Else get his ip from weblog or syslog and mailto abuse@his.provider.tld
