Default Installation Monitor

Does anyone know of any software that can tell you what files have been changed/added or registry keys changed/added when you install a new program?

I've got AVG for antivirus software. I just want a program that will monitor whats changing on the machine when something is installed.

You can try using SpyBot Search & Destroy(http://www.safer-networking.org/), it comes up with a message asking for your permission to make registry change whenever you do things like install new programs. I think you'll find that Windows Defender (http://www.microsoft.com/athome/secu...e/default.mspx) (Previously Windows Antispyware) does the same. Personally, I use both and they pretty much keep the machine clear of programs trying to do things they shouldn't.

Both Free too

I wanted more of a tool that logs file changes and registry changes/additions while a normal program is installing.

I found one in the end - incntrl5 it seems to work. Not a lot of options but I think it'll do the job =)

If you want more options, you could try one of the other programs listed here:

BTW, did you have to pay for Inctrl?

Yeah, how much did you pay for it? Or is it free?

Windows XP has a built in program that records previously installed programs and any changes in the system. You can even undo the past unsintallations and return that program into life again.
