I do not know where this question is best suited. I'm happy to move it.
For some reason my emails do not reach my customers using a Yahoo email account. I have experimented with my own yahoo account. My email goes into the bulk folder. Is there something to add or take away from an email to insure it won't go there? I use my cox.net or my account thru EasyCGI to send from. Thanks in advance! Nicci PS. I read the post from CutUpGuy but my problem seems to be the reverse of his.

HI,
At first when reading your post, I thought you were sending emails from your yahoo account. But, reading it a few times over, I believe you mean sending to users with a yahoo account. You said you use cox.net or your host to send mail. Which one is it? or is it both? If it's cox... as an isp, there's a pretty good chance that the ip is black listed, thus could be getting rejected by the mail server. Might also be that there is no reverse dns set up for your mail server, which might explain the email going into the junk folder. I'm not familiar with yahoo email accounts, but I would investigate what paramaters cause emails to go into the bulk folder. |

Thanks for all the input. I am sending it from my outlook using cox.net generally and to only one recipient. I will research to find out what may or may not cause a letter to filter into the bulk folder. I've tried to keep the letters as simple as possible taking out my signature and such. I recently posted a comment about not using a yahoo email account if at all possible when corresponding with us.
Thanks again! Nicci

Yahoo allows their users to mark mail as spam. This moves or deletes (their choice) and "trains" the Yahoo email to do the same with similar emails in the future. The bulk folder does not count against their storage, so they may never even look at it.

Hey there!
I host a few hundred websites and have had my share of issues with email, reverse dns etc. I keep these two sites bookmarked and recommend you check them out: 1) http://www.dnsstuff.com/ - spam database lookup this will tell you if your URL or IP is black listed and on which block list it is so you can contact them (in most cases) to attempt to have your IP block removed from the list. 2) http://www.checkdns.net/quickcheck.aspx - Another site that only checks DNS it will list any possible issues or problems with DNS, it will point out reverse DNS etc. Best of luck! Let us know if it's something else!

Thanks Dr. T and Ron for all the helpful info. I'll check into the sites recommended.
It's funny. Right after I posted this question, there was a piece on the news about this very thing. A new service to help businesses get their email thru instead of being filtered into the spam folders.

I've posted this reply for another question in the same board.
Delivering e-mails to the right people has already become a hassle for the normal internet marketer. Read more about this on my blog Deliver your message to their inbox, not to junk mail… |
