Default Windows Server 2003 Active Directory/DNS/DHCP question

This is going to sound rather strange, but I've got a client who has an "old" Windows Server 2003 on its last legs (one SCSI hard drive is dead, and the other dying in a RAID 1), and what I'd like to be able to do is use the settings for it on the replacement server, which just came in on Monday.

I can get the old server to boot up long enough to, if I have to, copy the settings by hand and put them in that way, but I'm wondering if there are files that would make my life a lot easier (e.g. INI files, registry files, things like that.)

In other words, take all of the Active Directory/DHCP/DNS/other server-specific settings and either print them off or save them somehow to be recalled when I'm back on the new server on Thursday.

Hey Adam

Is this the first server that was installed, or is this just a backup DC?? If it was the first one then it my be a bit more difficult, if it was just a secondary then it should be no problem to move certain things over.

Can't this be done with Norton Ghost? (Not sure of the programs name)

This topic was made over a year ago so the answer is non-consequential but...

The best way to recreate the way a server is setup beyond an image is to take screen shots of all the setup information from the server management roles (such as DNS zones and their information, etc). make and image after every change made to a server and screen shot every server change, including the steps with a quick sentence on what each step is doing. This helps new employees see what was done, helps remind you what you did when you have to do it again, especially required if your company uses multiple operating systems....

I don't think you can recreate DNS zones or active directory setups by just copying the files from the default folders... but I am not for sure.
