Default Boy, can I answer this one!

I've been a CNE, MCSE, CNI, and MCT since 1993, and have updated my certifications with every new version that comes out.

Problem is, I don't test real well without preparation, so I've become an expert at passing the tests. I never memorized answers, and it generally doesn't do any good anyway. By the time I'm finished and ready to go for the exam, I do know the subject.

First, you must install the software to work on, and mostly, you can download 90 day trials for that purpose. Your gold is the Books Online that come with it! Go through it thoroughly.

Next, it's pricy, but the only thing I've found to be useful is Transcender, and a lot of time you can catch a sale and get a discount.

Now, you're not going to use Transcender to memorize answers, because for one thing it doesn't do any good. What you're going to use it for is to tell you why you got a wrong answer. Fix it to tell you that you got a wrong answer right away (it's a setting in Transcender) instead of at the end of the test, and keep the Books Online open in a separate window.

Read the reasons you got it wrong, then switch to the Books Online for additional details.

Transcender usually comes with three tests, and it's going to take you three to six hours to get through each one, using this method, but it's sure-fire if you want to pass the tests. In other words, you're going to be using each test as a study tool to highlight the "gaps" that you need to fill in your knowledge of the product.

It has the additional advantage of getting you used to the way Microsoft asks questions, in other words, what they're looking for by way of an answer, and I always need that, even though I've taken their tests for years.

Thanks,
Matty-w
