Default Windows 2000 Slow with File Open and File Save Dialog Boxes

Hey there,

This has been a nagging problem for me.

I thought I would throw it out to the community for some possible help.

I have several computers with the same configuration running Windows2000 with all the MS updates, norton 2005, 512MB ram, IDE drives, CD-ROM, on a network.. fairly standard stuff.

One of the computers takes from 5 - 10 seconds to present the dialog box to OPEN or SAVE a file.

It is aggrevating..

Any one know what the problem might be?
or places I can look?

Thanks in advance

Default Problem not unique

This problem also occurs on Win XP, as well as in cases where there are no networked drives involved.

Additional causes include:

1) Low free RAM, resulting in paging delays;
2) File and/or Directory fragmentation on target drive; and,
3) Insufficient space in Swap (i.e., Paging) file.
