Default Browser bar will not access Paypal URL ?

We have a Sony laptop..vaio PCG F807K ...this worked ok till we managed to pick up a virus...the machine was taken away and all the old memory was wiped and the recovery program re installed...all works ok now but one problem we cannot find a answer too...we can log onto all the sites we place in the browser bar and they come up fine....with the exception of paypal site...if we type in http://www.paypal.com the welcome page is seen..when we try to log into our account..we get cannot find server! The correct URL for paypal is https://www.paypal.com ...but when this is typed in cannot find server comes up..we have another tower computer which is networked to the lap top through a Belkin system...this works ok...bringing up all pages required. All the other https sites we need to access work ok...it is just the paypal url with the problem. Any one come accross this before? Please help! Any input would be welcome.

Default System Question

Was your HDD formatted and the OS reinstalled.

If so then you should check the security settings in the IE web browser
Make sure it is set to Medium.

Have you done all the MS Security updates?

You also may want to try a different web browser.

Your browser may also be sending malicious info when you are attempting to
Access a secure site this extra malicious info will cause your request for URL to be halted by the Secure Site
