Default Need to move Mysql Database

I recently moved from a shared server to a dedicated server at lunarpages. I only needed the dedicated server for a couple of days, so I had all of my files copied from my shared server across to my dedicated server.

I am now going back to the shared server, but before I change my name servers I need to copy the recent mysql databases from the dedicated server back to the shared server. My hosting company originally did this for me, but I can not make contact with them. I have left messages and email over the last 3 days but no luck.

Is there anyone out there who can do this for me. I am desperate and need help!!!

Regards

If you can get into a MySQL utility such as phpMyAdmin, you can easily dump the contents of the database to text files containing SQL and then upload them on the other server.

The tool I use is SQLyog Enterprise.
In the power tools section it is able to replicate a database.
You must have access to both servers at the same time.

While I am not sure about what tools are available to your dedicated server, I believe LP offers both plesk and cpanel, which both should have the ability to backup a database to your local machine. I know the Lunarpages cpanel for shared hosting offers the ability to restore a database from such a backup.

phpMyAdmin is definitely a good way to go - I also often use it for making backups of databases in case something ever happens at the hosts end.

You should have an option in your Control Panel to acces phpMyAdmin.

Go into "export" and select which tables you want to export - probably all of them I guess - and then save as a .zip or .gzip file.

Open up phpMyAdmin on the new site and "import" the file and it will auto-magically create the tables for you.

Cheers,
Niggles.

I agree with "niggles".
1) Log into phpadmin
2) If it opens right into your database good - if not click on the database you want to export.
3) In the home section of phpmyadmin you will see a link to "EXPORT" if you do not see this look for a picture of a house.
4) In the "EXPORT" section the first group you see is all the different ways of exporting your database (I personally just check "SQL" at the bottom.
5) Again this is a personal preference but - I just hit "GO". The program will open a new page with all the database contents in it - even with the "CREATE" table fields. I then just cut and paste into where I am going to save it. Or in your new database click on the "SQL" tab. The page will open up with a white box and then you can paste all that data and your database will be created.

-------

You can at the bottom check off the "SAVE" button and name the file which will save it to your computer.
I do hope you are using phpmyadmin and can use this, it will save you sooooo much time.

All you will have to do is drop info in the "SQL" tab and then in your code connect php to that database.
