Default Dbase

Hi, I am new in here. I would like to know about dbase. My company used old dbase that operate in DOS. My boss want to connect database from the branch to headquarter(WAN connection)? Could we do it or we must change our apllication to the new one?The server use novell netware 4.11 and the application use foxbase.Thanks.

DBase! Haven't heard that mentioned for many years. Time to upgrade I think.

Should be easy enough to dump all your data and load it into a newer database system. Then getting the functionality you want should be a piece of cake.

I am assuming FoxPro 2.6 since it is still running and the year 2000 has gone by.
You will need to switch your operating system to FreeBSD 6.3 or 7.0 and use SAMBA (Linux will not work because Foxpro and oplocks do not work together.) Novell 4.11 won't work because ipx probably won't work, and tcp/ip wasn't added until 4.12 or higher.
Just to let you know Microsoft is ending FoxPro development so you might want to get a copy of Visual Foxpro 9 I think if you want to use this application any longer. I'm pretty sure that Vista will not run a foxbase app.
