Access to MySql to Access

On my PC, I have a database in Access which is perfectly suited for merging data with other MS Office programs. I am also creating a web site to collect data but they use MySQL on the server. I know there are converters I could use to move my database to the server but that creates a couple of questions;(1) With a converter in place, can I download updates from MySql to my Access and vice-versa easily? (2)Is there a specific converter to do this?
Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated

That would depend on your particular converter.

Personally, I've used Access to open up tables on our MySQL server many times (using MyODBC) and created my own update functions. It isn't that difficult, especially if one table is updated online and another is updated offline.

In doing a few quick searches, this one caught my eye as possibly being something that would perhaps do what you want, and it had the added feature of being able to schedule the updates between the databases to run automagically. Being shareware, I'd try it out and see if it does what you need. The price to purchase seemed reasonable, too.

There were quite a few others that looked promising as well, but it all boils down to your exact needs. Google seemed to give lots of decent results on the first several pages.

I use two products to move between Access and mysql, the first is NaviCat which is a windows gui app for mysql databases. It has a great import/export feature that makes moving data back and forth across different platforms a breeze. The other app is from SoftGalaxy.net called Access-MySQL converter, I prefer this app when I want to schedule large database restores or dumps, I find I have better control with the scheduling and database options then I do with NaviCat.

They both have demo versions that you can check out to see what fits your needs best. If you want a free option I recommend SQLyog from webyog.com, they have scheduled odbc import/exports which will do the job for you. I have used the app for general administration of database and liked it, but have never used their scheduler so I can't comment on it directly, overall though its a good piece of software and worth checking out the free version.
