Default Help needed in php mysql

We have huge database, and we use mysql for backhand and php for front end, when we trying to fetch results for specific query we get very slow response.
our data base contain 70000000 records in 1 table.

we need help for how we fetch query very fast.

we have plan to divide this all records in multipal table.

50 tables
10000 tables
50000 tables

we want to know that how much table is good in mysql as well as fetch the query.

any ideas?

Start by Googling "mysql normalization".

Normalization is the process of doing what you'd like to do.

1 large table is **rarely** the way to design a relational database. There is tons of very good reading on this topic available on the Web.

that is an vague question..
similar to asking how long do I need to cook 'this'?

It is difficult to answer without knowing more..
what is 'slow'?
what kind of machine is it on?
how much of the resources can mysql use?
what else is the machine doing?
how is the network?
have you tuned my.cnf?
are there indexes?
is the table optimized?
how efficient is the query?
how many fields are being returned?
what is php trying to accomplish?
what is returned to the browser?
is there a lot of formatting of HTML?
etc...etc..
