Have a link for that Netman?
And which Cloudscape is this? A new version for IBM or are we talking the one that was (supposedly) released to the Public Domain into the care of Apache? Seems that their is a question in regards to the licensing. IBM is saying one thing and Apache is saying something else to this regard. |

Ronnie,
I think this is their last issue then it's Apache Not sure if this link will work unless you are registered with IBM http://www-106.ibm.com/developerwork...ine/index.html

I guess the project is in incubation at Apache, it is called Derby now. More info on Cloudscape can be found here.
I noticed on that page, IBM states "Zero-cost licensing for both open source and commercial versions.". I was not aware of their being two licenses ... hmmm. This is what Groklaw was having a hard time figuring out right from the start. While I can understand some enthusiasm over this move by IBM, you still have to question some of the motives behind it. One motive I can see is that development tools for Cloudscape are in large part IBM properties. If this is truly going to be free licensing, I am wondering if other development tools and utilities will start to appear on the horizon. Much like phpMyAdmin and NavCat for MySQL. |
