I've been looking at open content management systems for years now, and they all seem clunky and difficult to set up/manage.
I started with PHP Nuke, and it seemed a very comprehensive solution, but it was difficult to teach to non-techies. I then played with Drupal for a bit, and it looked like it had some good solutions. Now, I'm looking at moving a 300+ page web site into a CMS, so I thought I'd ask: Which do you like best?

I would probably lean towards Joomla, it's pretty mature with lots of add-ons, plus it's search engine friendly (with some tweaks)
Yeah, the nukes are pretty brutal. But, I would say that most cms's have a bit of a learning curve.

It depends a lot on the type of site you want to move. Joomla is far too easy to set up and manage in comparison to Drupal. And since you have experienced Drupal already - try Joomla.

I'll give Joomla a try, but isn't WordPress a blog software?

I have never understood the craze about Joomla.
I am teaching e-commerce to master degree level students and I have used Joomla for more than one term as a case for an open source CMS - simply because I heard so many positive things about the application and I wanted to get to know it: all I got was trouble - locked files, forms difficult to integrate, quite a learning curve. Maybe it is a powerful application after the learning curve, but it certainly isn't fool-prove. For my own sites I have preferred custom tailored applications, Postnuke, Wordpress and Wikis, and for SEO there is nothing better than static HTML anyway.... |

There are a few magazine style Wordpress themes that blur the boundary between blog and CMS. The advantage with Wordpress is that it is much easier to teach to non-techies who need to update the site.
