Default Community_Search site development

This may not be in the correct forum topics. Please correct it if it's not. I have so many questions related to different areas.

I'm currently finishing a business plan draft, and am also discussing financing for a website project. That part is pretty solid.

I want to develop my site at SeniorSomething.com. The site has been up since 1999. Right now it's like an automobile restoration project. It needs a complete makeover. Health concerns had prevented me from doing anything with the site for the last four years. At one time the site was serving 8 to 9,000 uniques a month. Being unable to maintain and complete development, traffic's now down to a trickle. I did everything back then. It was just something to do to occupy myself. Now I want more. The site needed direction, guidence, development, and everything else back then, and definitey now that I want to move into being a viable business venture.

My original plan was and still is to provide major web search for senior sites, Google type. I also want to provide community and content. Primary revenue source would be from advertising and sponsorships. Eventually I want to use the .com extension for the search portion, the .net for the content portion, and the .org as a not for profit, service oriented entity. The Build A Community software and web hosting is so far the front runner in that area.

Some of the things I.d like to know are:

The legal aspect of the project is taken care of and provided. Everyone and everything else, I need. What technical support, site security and or staff would I need. What should be the requirments for these positions? Contract or inhouse? Experience and knowledge in what areas? Naturally, I want to keep that expense as low as possible. How about a couple of people who could handle it all? Would that be possible and practical?

There are people who have offered to take care of these things for me, but I don't like the Enron approach. I want to know everything about everything before and after I get in the water.

Are there any opinions about the Build A Community suite and hosting? Are there other providers who offer a similar product? What about SEO services? What should that service provide and what results should I expect from a professional service? What SEO methods should I want for the best possible results?

What I'm really asking is what would YOU want if you were to proceed with this project? I'm sure different development areas would have their own priorities and concerns. I'd like to know the different lines of thought from different professionals as to why their opinion or requirements would be best. Are there any opinions or insight that could provided (without charging me). I hope I don't get what I paid for. I realize that providing this information is how many make their livelihood. Everything would be greatly appreciated. I hope I'm not asking for too much. Maybe each person could make one suggestion.

This project is still a few months away, but I really want to get my own handle on what and how this should go.

The health concerns mentioned earlier also prevent me from sitting at the keyboard for extended periods of time. So if there are any questions, I'll be back. Thanks guys and guyettes.

I would suggest your break all of these questions down into seperate posts and I am sure you will get some feedback. Right now your basically asking how do I start a online business? What do I do? I suggest you break these questions down into the right forums.
