Default Is 35.4 MB too big?

I look after a small website for our community based Airport. They would like to include a recent Economic Development report on this website. It is 35.4 MB. I'm using an older version of Front Page and they tell me this file is too big. It's a .pdf file with Acrobat Reader as its platform.
1. Do I need a bigger website?
2. Do I need to convert the .pdf file to something else?
Sorry I'm so dumb, and I would welcome any help you could give me.

35+ mb is too large for most people to download.

You could keep the document in PDF format but separate it into separate files by section/chapter and create links to each section.

We do this regularly on a local government site that we developed and maintain. You can view how we've broken down their zoning code here.

35.4 MB is way to big. You can do the following

#1) Create a table of contents and allow download in sections
#2) Optimize the PDF file to PDF normal. If your pdf contains images make sure they are saved to 72 dpi.

For example I ocr'd 675 tif scans that were 28mb to a 1.25 mb file and 441 kb zipped. That's the difference between a pdf image only file and pdf normal.

I just ocr'd article1.pdf from bodgekaloopie's page. The original pdf was 37.4 kb for 1 page and the PDF Normal is only 8.2 kb. 80% smaller.

Scanmonkey has it right. The images in the file need to be reduced in a major way, and you'll do great.

That file size is way too big, even in the world of high speed internet, that file will still take too long for most people.

A little playing with Acrobat will get you on your way.

35MB is tooooo big file to a visiter!
You have to convert the pdf to other file(html, etc) and separate it to many little files.
