If I write a weight loss "article," it could be as short as two sentences: East less. Exercise more.
What's wrong with it is it's not informative. In other words, if it were as simple as that there would be no motivation to click on an article. People want certain things from content -- short, long or whatever.
...Tell them something they are not likely to know.
...Introduce some context. What drives a situation or result, what connects the dots between facts. What lies behind overeating, or what makes for an effective (therefore shorter) weight-loss exercise.
I have seen a bunch of those "Top Ten" articles which were not much different from your example. Generic without information, they do not reward the reader's investment. And what fails to impact upon content creators is the user concept site visitors are spending time and attention on a site. In an era where computing power and bandwidth are (relatively) cheap, the new scarce resource is attention.
