Twitter spam in trending topics

Right now, there are 4 TT's that are just pure spam in twitter,

Fired
How I
Sentences
Links

all have posts similar to "I got Fired! Now I post Links on Twitter and Make more money than ever http://3.ly/Hyv"

Is anyone else getting a bit sick of this? What do you think the outcome will be and do you think twitter can sufficiently fight off the spammers?

Im sorry but to me 4 out of 10 is pretty bad and has noticably cut down my interest in twitter for the day.

Well... no one cared... but a couple of days later mashable posted this: Twitter Cleaning Up Trending Topics Spam so im glad im not the only one to have noticed.
