Default Happy 4th of July!

NYC is shooting off fireworks on the west side this year, so gives a good view from the Jersey side of the Hudson. Always better than the local yokel fireworks (shoot one off, wait, shoot another.....clap a little....swat a mosquito....dud.....another....loud one....loud one.....) I don't know who decides to buy the 'loud ones' but they just make a big bang and no color. If you're shooting off two, and you get color AND sound, that makes sense, but if you're just putting them up one after the other, there's no point. I'd rather they just set them off all at once and have a really good show for 30 seconds rather than a really boring one for half an hour....

I agree - the loud noise could be done without. Although, the loud noise was worth it to see my brother-in-law was bombed by 75 parachutes. I always thought Marines were supposed to be tough but... My brother-in-law, being the genius he is, decided to stand next to a tube of explosives which shot little umbrellas into the air... he did this without making sure it was on level ground. The ground was not level, the firework went off, it tipped directly toward him, he got hit repeated with little umbrellas. It was the best part of the fourth!!
