Sorry for posting Twice: Miss-keyed: but it's worth watching twice anyway

H.264 encoding, etc. Technical video about H.264 and streaming technologies. Quality vs. Computer Power for different methods. Codec, Formats for Flash etc. Encoder information, etc.

H.264 (Pseudo) Streaming. H.264 video files in their Flash player.

Thank you very much for the update. I have been thinking more about this. Two better solutions:
  1. Choosing format, file size and movie quality by a switch directly on the camera.
  2. Using Sony's own (upgrade of) the Picture Motion Browser (the movie editing program) to save the movie in a more compact format. That may already be possible. I don't have a full overview of the software.

Here's some more info:

Amazon S3 (Simple Storage Service). Web services interface that can be used to store and retrieve any amount of data, at any time, from anywhere on the web. It gives any developer access to the same highly scalable, reliable, fast, inexpensive data storage infrastructure that Amazon uses to run its own global network of web sites. The service aims to maximize benefits of scale and to pass those benefits on to developers.

See: Data Bucket Pro (They clame to make S3 easier), able to place time limits on the viewing of files.

Storeage: Windows Live SkyDrive, private or public

I think a lot depends on exactly what you wish to achieve?

I've got the impression that you want Top Quality video's, (don't we all), and are not bothered about data size... (You users have very fast Broadband).

You may be able to store videos on your own server.

If not then some form of compression first could be wise. (save upload times if nothing else)

I normally save as AVI, then load into Movie Maker and save for video for broadband 512Kbs 320x240 wmv format, this is basic level.

YouTube allow 1Gb files of 480x360 which may be viewed on YouTube at High Quality, well a bit higher that the standard.

I think you should always save an original copy at the highest settings locally, where you can. This can be tuned down later if needed.. but you can’t increase the quality of a compressed video that much.

Yes, we all want quality, so there should be an easy way to deliver file size (that is video quality) in raw form depending on the visitors bandwith.

Ideally, yes. Persoanlly I have tried two solutions to embed videos on my sites:
  1. The Daily Show with Jon Stewart Official Website | Current Events & Pop Culture News, Comedy & Fake News | Comedy Central
  2. YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.
There are a lot of such sites that can be used to syndicate your videos. Now for a third time I experience that a free service closes down (Oh today it is online again http://home.no/kjellbleivik/ the point is that it is beyond my control): Hypertext Style: Cool URIs don't change.

And why not take control of and get trafic for your own content. You know storage are increasing exponentially: http://www.webproworld.com/breakroom...tml#post399083

YouTube do this... but remember they can not turn a small poor quility video into a top quality video, (well not yet).

This means if you want to show a good quality video, it has to be uploaded as such.

repeat: Alway store at the highest possibe locally, you may get a chance to upload and allow viewers to watch it sometime in the future, or play it to people via DVD, blu-ray!!! (So don't let the camera compress it)

How Devices will communicate Just an idea!!!

Sony Picture Motion browserl

Instead of converting the file, if you install the correct codec for HiDef and reboot, you should be able to edit the video without any loss in quality.
