The truth about food is sad, people consuming processed fat in sausage, hot dogs, bacon and so on is causing an epidemic of diabetes and obesity leading to many diseases including cancers.

My dad had a massive stroke due to consuming such cheap meats, the .89 cent package of hot dogs in not such a great deal after all if you are consuming lard non-stop.

If people consumed a kosher diet or an old fashioned non-processed foods diet, there would be a lot less of the above killer diseases plaguing the poor and poorly educated in the USA.

Modern petro chemical farming technology is also killing humans and the earth, including honeybees.

I always accepted that the 3 main food groups were -
sweets - (Lollies, chocolate, cakes etc)
Munchies (burgers, chips, pies etc )
Liquid (Wine, beer, scotch, rum, etc)

As long as your diet has roughly an equal amount of each group you are unlikely to encounter any great problems.

If you aim at being more than 100 years old, you have to
  1. restrict the use of calories and
  2. reduce the use of free radicals
In addition
  1. Increase food with omega-3 fatty acids and antioxidants and eat more
  2. blueberries
  3. white onions
  4. tomatoes
  5. walnuts (some mean that walnut oil is more healthy than virgin olive oil)
  6. carrots and drink more
  7. mineral water
  8. coconut milk
Today's moralism.

P.S.

What about The Michael Phelps Diet ?

and swimming was rated as the best (for your health) among sports the last time I checked by an authritative Norwegian magazine. It was even rated above cross country skiing.

  1. As long as you are healthy, each day is a gift.
  2. There is a relation between health and food.

You say that because you look at people who are older and from your point of view they obviously do not enjoy the quality of life that you enjoy. You MIGHT (everybody is different) be underestimating your own survival instinct.

I would suggest that nobody really knows the answer to that question until you are in the circumstance itself.

There are many people out there who stoically endure quite a bit because in their mind the alternative, death, is worse.

Of course. There are many people who live an unhappy lifestyle because of the consequences of what they eat/drink, including obesity, diabetes/ alcoholism, etc.

Here a quote may be in place.

Ecclesiastes 9:4.

Anyone who is among the living has hope —even a live dog is better off than a dead lion!

My problem is not eating bad food, but eating bad food in excess.

The worst for me personally, is to change bad habits. We always have two choices:
  1. What was chosen.
  2. What was not chosen.
My friend Aimo, from Finland, once said: Kjell, you can help everybody else except yourself. There is some truth in that.

When people that get really old here are interviewed, most of them say that they can enjoy a glass of wine or ... in the evening.

A relaxed life style is very important.

Uncle Sam went into a health shop:

He had never seen so many sick people in one place in his whole life

Most probably I will have my final log out in front of the computer writing posts on WPW with a cup of coffee at my side.

Unless I am banned, when there is WPW silence from kgun, he has most probably logged out. Then it is time to have a real party.

Fanaticism in either direction is not good for your health.

So let me live and die as an ordinary man.

A Norwegian author once wrote (freely translated to English):

The greatest joy you can have is to make other people happy = "Den største gleda du kan ha, det er å gjera andre glad".

(I think Bill Gates is one example. We can say much about Microsoft, but the company have given out much for free -- or very cheap).

Very often in life when you have two choices, there is a collision with our own ego. You may not know that before you become 100 years old.
