Still trying to dry out here.

The young mother-to-be rabbit who's nesting in my yard is none too happy with the heavy rains we've had over the past several days. Even though I left a large un-mown patch around her temporary home, the rains have severely flattened the stand of grass and clover that served as her protective cover. And, the tiny burrow has turned quite soft. Only time will see how she makes out.

No sooner had I posted this, and the heavens once more opened up; I'm afraid she'll end up aborting.

With all due respects to mothers in general, had it not been for my father, my sisters and I would have been physically abused well beyond that which we suffered at the hands of our mother. This is a woman who has, in some fashion or another, abused nearly everyone within easy and constant reach. Despite her publicly holding herself out to be a deeply religious person, she is in fact one of the most mean spirited persons to ever draw breath.

Sorry to hear that, DS.

On a more upbeat note...I was awakened this morning by my wife, eager to give me a Father's Day gift, which, of course, I graciously accepted. An hour or so later, my daughter came downstairs and gave me a big hug and wished me Happy Father's Day, too.

Now, I can certainly return the hug to my daughter. And I would be quite pleased to return the "gift" my wife gave me...in a couple of hours. But I'm faced with a moral question:

Should I tell them NOW, that Father's Day is NEXT Sunday, or should I wait until next Saturday?
