Well, I took the challenge and d/l'd the file and ran it. Some nice shots and I can see it as a content freebee that would benefit Vicki as many people do run screensavers and fish enthusiasists would enjoy it. I don't run screensavers normally as they tend to crap out my RAM and Winders doesn't need any more help in crapping out.

My only critique would be that on the couple of photos where the reverse white text for fishname and copyright info is appearing in a very light area, it's impossible to read -- I'd recommend changing those to darker blue or black.

However, your concept is a good marketing technique and I immediately went into the zone of "how could I apply the idea" to several of my planned upcoming sites. I may be talking to you in a few months with a couple of schemes.

Hi ldyguique

Thanks for appreciating our work. This website was actually an unplanned thing. I was just fooling around with domain ideas a year ago and was thinking of fish and net and came up with reelinthefish.net

reel in the fish
reelin' the fish
reel in the fish net
reelin' the fish net

Look at it any which way that you want and it'll work hehe. I had absolutely no idea what on earth I wanted to do with the domain till 3 months ago when I stumbled onto photography by Vicki Hendrix and immediately got in touch with her. And she teamed up with me right away.

I am really curious now as to what you have in store... hmmm few months? Any sooner? Hehehh. Looking forward to hearing from ya soon.

Well, I'm in the process of:

a) being laid off from my job as all of our call centers are closing and our jobs are going to a combo of India and the Phillippines;

b) I'd already made plans cus I could see the handwriting on the wall all last year after half of our call centers were closed and the jobs went to outsourcing; I'm moving from the east coast of the USA (Pennsylvania) and moving to Anchorage, Alaska in late May;

c) I've registered domains and am in the process of setting up my first website for the business I will launch after I get to AK -- a billable tech support business. which will include real life onsite help, phone support, and website interactive;

d) I'm gathering in all of the tools and ideas for the launch of the website, which will include interactive content (blogs, forums, and chat) as well as static teching content;

e) I'm considering some affiliate software links and such;

f) After I get through the worst of the learning curve for myself, I'll launch a site for each of my daughters -- one who is a hairdresser and one who is developing a good deal of bibliographical data on Lesbian Literature -- which will have affiliate links to at least Amazon.

Each of us has different needs, perspectives, and taste. By the time, I beat it all up, I might feel comfortable doing "some" similar work for tech customers. I'll never be a true webdesigner as it's not where my inclinations and talents really lie; however, there is a huge range of workmanship between absolute beginner to the web launching a decent first site and the need for a fully designed site that only a web designer really should be doing,

Right now, I'm milling around in the land of Blog and Forum software. My WH company uses Fantastico, a 3rd party interface, that auto-installs a fairly good range of open source software packages; certainly enough to frustrate the heck outta me and make me rather wild-eyed.

One thing that keeps coming up in WPW is "content." Content comes in all shapes and forms to entice one to come back. I iknow that I want my site to eventually become a homepage for my customers, which means a certain amount of dynamic content, novelty stuff, fun stuff, and learning stuff, etc.

I know that when I first started online, I was fascinated by backgrounds, screensavers, icons, etc. Once I started changing my own desktop and environment, I became more hooked on the net itself. I know that whatever I went through as a newbie is still being repeated by most other newbies.

Ergo, why I thought specialized screensavers might be a fun addition to each of the sites, with different content for each. I'd go down the "Alaska scenery or animals" path; Elizabeth would likely want seductive pictures of women or even portrait pitures of various authors; and, Suzanne would probably like some Hair Salon type of content.

ejrs -- your site is not up in any form right now to me:

Pinging 202.157.185.108 [202.157.185.108]:

Ping #1: * [No response]
Ping #2: * [No response]
Ping #3: * [No response]
Ping #4: * [No response]

Done pinging 202.157.185.108!

Tracert stops when it attempts to leave the u.s. One of the hops breaks there -- something transpacific is down.

I'll try again later and thanks for the offer :)

Jeremy --
As I said, it's something wrong with the backbone between California in the US and where it leaves. All tracerts stop right there. Unfortunately, I checked my access numbers and all will route through the same backbone. This is one of those ISP routing issues, nothing to do with your hosting company or your site; I simply am being blocked from routing TO it as the "line is down" so to speak.

I'm going to watch a couple of movies and will try again later this evening, my time. We're about 12 hours apart; so, if you're up around 10am your time, we'll try to chat then IF I can reach your site.

I've added another screensaver you can download. http://reelinthefish.net

Also 2 cartoonists have authorized the use of their cartoon panels, and I will be adding them as time goes on. One cartoonist will be creating cartoon panels exclusively for the site. So keep an eye out for the changes.
