Puzzle with private messages on this forum

Need help cause got stuck

In the section of private messages I have Sentbox and Outbox. What is each for?

I thought Sentbox is for the messages that were successfully sent to other forum members. Then why the heck after I click to send PM, it gets not to Sentbox but to Outbox.

Can anybody help to sort this mystery out?!!!!

You are right. Successfully sent messages go to "sent messages" section.

As for the Outbox, this is how I understand it:

When you write a message to a forum member, it doesn't go directly to that person until they log into the forum. When they log in, any PMs addressed to them get sent through to their inbox.

If they don't log on for a while, the message stays in your outbox until they do.

Having said that, I am constantly moaning on the WPW suggestions forum that PMs get stuck into my Outbox even if the person is or has been logging on.

They will remain in your outbox until the person actually views their private messages. They person you are messaging can continuosly log in and out but if they don't actually click on pm's then they won't get sent.

So it is a good idea to edit your accounts so that you would be notified whenever anyone sends a private message.
