Default HOSTGATOR - Good or Bad?

I am looking at offering Hosting and Domain name services to my clients and was looking for a hosting/domain reseller similar to the one I was currently with (as I was comfortable with it, just wanted more of the revenue than their affiliate program was offering).

Anyhow, I came across HostGator and it would appear that is precisely what I was looking for, running the CPanel admin interfaces and whole slew of options for reselling.

I just wanted to know if any one knew more about HostGator. Good things, bad things, praise, concerns, everything.

I've been using hostgator for almost a year and my only complaint is that they don't offer urchin statistics. The best they have is awstats.
My sites usually respond fast and I havent noticed any prolonged downtime with the websites but do ocassionally have problems connecting to my email via outlook.

HostGator is overpriced and their support isnt always the best.
I now use www.crucialp.com - perfect! No complaints whatsoever. Other than using their service I don't have any association/affiliation with them - I have just been constantly impressed by their level of service and like to big the up whenever asked.

That's because as a budget host, hostgator can't afford urchin.
My hosting clients get urchin, but I pay through the nose :)

ackerly: Urchin is a commercial stats program. Good enough, that google bought them.

btw, thumbs down on hostgator

I use statcounter. It's the best, IMO.

As for hostgator. Meh. There is no perfect webhost. Everyone has different needs, and as such need different webhosts.

True, however I doubt the poster would want to risk his client's sites going with a budget host.
