Default When Clients are no longer around

It's been far too long since my last entry, but I wanted to pass on a sad situation that has just come about for us.

For over 6 years we had one of those clients you only read about. Paid on time, always asking advice and ordering new work from us.
Although not a big customer, an important one none the less.

We discovered that he lost his battle with Cancer in November, and now it would appear that no one will be taking over the company. Therefore it was shut down and no longer exhists.

It's not for the fact that we will no longer be doing business with his agency, but more along the lines of a serious loss that really devistated some of the staff. He was a guy that came to our company parties, and family gatherings.

Has anyone else experienced this sort of loss? And if so what did you do?
We have moved on, but hated the emptiness that came with the situation.

I've never been in that situation, unfortunately, to be close enough to a client or someone doing business with, and lose them in that manner. I can however see where you're coming from, that the loss is much greater than financial.

It speaks highly of you, to allow yourself to have that type of relationship with people, and not see them only as 'business as usual', which seems prevalent in the business world too often. It shows you see people you do business with as human beings. I wish you prosperity and new business, your company deserves it.

Thanks for posting again.

Hi,
Just wanted to say how sorry i was for your loss. I have been lucky enough not to have to suffer such a situation. I think moving on is all you can do.
Best Wishes,
Thom Jenkins.

Thank you jkomp and jawn-tech.
Great words of encouragement. Losing a client such as this was an emotional tragedy. Losing the income, well there are plenty of clients out there.

We have always maintained a "small town" relationship no matter the size of the client. Its the New England way.

All of you have a wonderful holiday!
