Default Where are you posting from? Mars, Jupitor or Planet Earth?

Seriously,

I was in a thread the other day and there was a lady who was posting and mentioned the fact that she was on a PDA device (somewhere in Japan I think...).

So I'm curious. How many of you post from your PDA's?

I myself, have a "couple" home based businesses and work off my PC or Laptop at home.

Please answer the poll above and let me know from where in the universe you are viewing this from RIGHT NOW.

Default Half-in/Half-out the Electronic Revolution

I've reached that point in life where I no longer care if I'm current to the electronic world around me. I've never owned a pager or a PDA, don't own a cellphone, and don't have an operational DVD player. I happen to like computers and the internet, it doesn't mean that I want all of the rest of the gadgetry.

I've always enjoyed the aspect of going on an errand run so that I could AVOID the phone -- why on earth would I want to take one with me?

I like being online, but I want a real keyboard and the ability to concentrate. If I'm doing research on a topic, I want multiple windows or tabs, not be restricted to something that can fit in the palm of one hand.

One of things that amazed me about someone on a Pocket PC or PDA taking part in a forum is for long conversations using a little pencil, it can be challenging. No matter what method you use.

Unless of course you have a keyboard attached. They do have portable keyboards you can plug in.

I've had organizers for years. I owned Palms in the past and have a Pocket PC right now. It's great for holding information and carrying it with you. It's great to be able to sync with the home PC...

But to have online conversations or to create long docs! I've tried it. Not fun; not easy.

Maybe when they get voice recognition perfected or when they can attach an electrode to your temple to read your mind it will be more practical.

Otherwise I can wait to get back to the office or home PC....

The other thing that blew my mind was the fleeting thought that I might actually be having a conversation with someone on a toilet in Tokyo.............

Kind of like talking to people on their cordless and hearing the toilet flush in the background LMAO!

One of my buddies was so proud of his PDA. He'd had it for a few weeks when I cought up with him, and he couldn't wait to show me his new toy (he is one of those, yes, lots of toys and electronics).

After ten minutes of trying to show me, and failing, how to enter and retrieve a phone number, I laughed at him. $300 bucks to store phone numbers and try to type with the end of a pencil to make notes.

My little black book with a couple of till receipts, to jot notes on, work just fine in one tenth the time :O)

Well if anyone gets an iPAQ, I highly recommend a great game called Snails: http://www.snailsgame.com/

REALLY FUN GAME. It's addictive though. I've probably spent thousands of hours playing it.

I won't tell you where I play it...

Dell Laptop (cable modem) sitting my easy chair in my bedroom with cable tv on, chatting to Wynn on MSN Messenger. My idea of multi-tasking.

Cheers!

Hi Max!!!!

Congratulations by the way. You're a lucky man.

It seems everyone is hooking up online these days. I have two friends who met the woman of their dreams online.

Ones been married to a young Russion girl for about 5 years now (3 kids later). And the other is getting hitched this month to what he calls "his Brazilian Princess".........

You life in the country on 1-5 acres with with a wireless network and work in your outdoor "Living Room" under 100 ft tall pine trees:)

Well looking at the results so far, the PDA user was an anomaly.... although the people on other planets I'm a little worried about:)

This just came in from my guys on Mars.

Jupiter satellite is down all Internet services disrupted.

For all those residents on Jupiter who have been watching and replying to this thread, the bad news is the system is down. If anyone has a big ball of string and two cans, we can get it up and running in no time. Message Ends
