So many times I used to get greeted online with 'how's it going downunder', and it used to drive me nuts...so...my fave personal quote
I'm only downunder if your on top! ;-) Now the rest takes a little thought....so here goes...my thoughts on: webdesign - I think the meaning gets lost of these words on the net. We are the architects (designers) of the net. Would you call someone who designs a box of flats a designer? I wouldn't. marketing - **waits for all the marketers to jump all over her!!** ;-) The word I love to hate! I prefer to call it legitimate prostitution. working online - The world at my fingertips! Says it all! :-) I love the information content & creativity of the Internet. I dont like it losing its integrity. And my thoughts.... I think we have been provided a marvellous resource, and that it is being abused. I think it needs to be respected more than it is. :-) Happy Birthday Internet !! Cindy

I certainly agree with the one from "the other top side", a.k.a. matauri (o:
The internet is the greatest sociological experiment in history, and the greatest opportunity for humanity to become one. When I get to be part of this community here at WebProWorld, without cost or criteria, and share in the overwhelming spirit of help, sharing, understanding, and instruction freely given - I am filled with more hope than ever. |

I would have to concur with Cindy and MikMik on sentiments expressed in respect to the Internet. The Internet as far as I'm concerned, is the most mystical happening we will ever experience in our lifetimes. When one thinks of the complexity involved and the mechanical avenues trangressed in E-Communication, it is simply mind boggling. We each sit at our computers, in homes or offices all over the world typing on a page thousands of miles away, and seconds after hitting the Submit button, others half way around the world can view that message. The processes that take place between my sitting here plucking away at a wireless keyboard, to this message popping up on a monitor in Western Australia are endless, yet they all transpire in milliseconds and make the message happen without really thinking about it.
As far as Web Design, I don't see it as an industry, I likely never will. Web Design is much more than that to me, it always will be, even if I do realize my goal of making a living at it someday. I was intrigued by Web Design initially from a programming aspect. I found it difficult to comprehend typing a black and white page of text to try and generate a subsequent page of beauty. Because I found it an easily accessible medium, I also saw it as an opportunity to finally publish a bit of my own literary humor for review by the world. In realizing that goal however I likewise found it an opportunity to express myself artistically to some degree, in the concept of "Design." And, then I found the avenues of marketing the site, and the issues of Search Engine Optimization to offer even more intrigue. It is an eternal learning process, the curve therein being as sharp as you wish to make it. I see the same desire for knowledge in all that surround me here at Web Pro World, from the meekest beginners seeking a bit of wisdom in basic layout, to the professionals here that share technical information in search of answers to the never ending questions we all have, and even in jest while searching for answers to the ageless questions of Jell-O EEGs, and Ghosts. (For those of you having not partaken of that thread, believe it or not, we even found a few!) I too have come to feel a part of a family here, there is a spirit shared amongst us all, from wherever we hail. I have been truly impressed at the wisdom possessed by many of the members here, and at the same time, have been in awe of the humility, and the humanity expressed by many of those same individuals. Were I to summarize my feelings toward the Internet experience as a whole, and the Web Pro World forum in particular, it would best be offered in the words of todays youth... It is amazing what technology has done, but it still amazes me more to see what humanity can do. There are great people within this forum and many more joining daily. With that said, I would very much like to hear what everyone has to say. :)
