Default 2 for 1

minstrel:

Here is another literary allusion to the classic playwriter "I think it's whales."
"Do you mean the country, or the fishes?"

To greyhawk I say " Yes, I suppose we look pretty mild by comparison. At least someone had enough sense to make them quit using the initials 'WWF' for their national sport. (*NOTE - baseball is a "pasttime", not a sport. mgmnt)

Thats a low blow, Golf is more of a sport than Pro-wrestling. Pro-wrestling is not our national sport at best it's just bad acting. I cant argue about your baseball comment. It's one of the most boring sports (sorry mikmik, I mean "pasttime" ;)) there is and they have to have a seven game championship.

"Squeeze me? Baking Powder?"

For the moment, talking only about spectator sports (because playing some sports/games is different), baseball is not nearly as boring as:

lawn bowling
cricket
golf
synchronized swimming
soccer
polo
dwarf tossing
golf
Greco-Roman wrestling
the luge
golf
table tennis
billiards
badminton
synchronized swimming

(yeah, I know... but some deserved two votes for the most boring spectator "sports" ever)

Minstrel, I stand corrected. I had no idea there were so many sports worse than baseball. I guess I just notice baseball because its on the major networks here during prime time.

Here is another one to add to your list of boring sport
Rock, Paper, Scissors

LOL - Do you by any chance listen to the Jim Rome show on radio ("Have a take - don't suck")? He was going on about Rock Paper Scissors professionals the other day... (He also has a TV show called Rome is burning but I've never seen it.)

Out... Rack me! :-)

Default don't forget

from our nations capital (Toronto's best kept secret) comes this:
Quote:
lawn bowling
cricket
golf
synchronized swimming
soccer
polo
dwarf tossing
golf
Greco-Roman wrestling
the luge
golf
table tennis
billiards
badminton
synchronized swimming
.

I was going to say that you forgot "Darts"
but then I remembered the scintillating commentary.

That's the problem these days, people don't watch enough TV anymore. There is more of an 'educational'
focus - exhibit by such as 'Arena Football' and the groundbreaking, avant garde series with the subtle name of "Slamball" in which basketball is played with trampolines and players wearing full protective gear.

I have one other but I don't want to make rocky1 mad.
Gotta go now, the 'Yorkton Shears' are in town to take on the 'Kelowna Gravel'.

Default Thanks!!

You are very kind, minstrel, but I cannot take full credit. You see, although I'm the one working the keyboard, I just write what my puppy-dog tells me to.

Oh, I'm sorry - "Mr." puppy-dog. [o;

Now behave yerself Mik!

In that you opened the proverbial door on my object of passion, be advised that it is not uncommon for the participants thereof to realize fully the irony of pitting their well educated selves and their thousands and thousands of dollars of equipment, against a critter with a brain the size of a pea, and gettin whupped!

Of course we've all heard down here, that the fish aren't quite as smart up there, is why so many folks from down here go up there to try and catch them all!

Or, was it because you guys had so much beer? Not sure! (I can't imagine that though, having enjoyed the company of a few of your countrymen in the local taverns!! And I might add, it was quite likely one of the most outrageous times I've ever had in the bar with a total stranger! I laughed till I cried.) };~)
