Sara Pailin's eye blinking and foreign policy.
Do you think Sara Pailin's eye blinking will be an advantage in foreign policy?

I don't think she was winking, I think its those bangs hanging in her eye :P Seriously the woman needs a haircut-every time she blinked you saw her hair pull down.
I find her annoying too.

I think she's got an eye problem.. my brother winks as often as she does. Mom said, that's because of being restless.

There are a lot of good pictures on Time's
White House Photo Blog
"Within Reach
John McCain, left, and his running mate Sarah Palin greet supporters at the the PS Air Hangar at the Cedar Rapids Airport".

Re: Sara Pailin's eye blinking and foreign policy.
Hillary (my personal favourite) that lost against Obama is a good candidate to be America's first female president.
I am an economist and ask how McCain will balance the budget. Often what is not said is more important than what is said, even if Obama also won this last debate. And he has a beautiful intelligent wife.

Re: Sara Pailin's eye blinking and foreign policy.
In terms of overall presentation, Obama was right on target. He's every bit as good as Kennedy, Reagan and Clinton. From what I saw last night, if you can believe it, I would say that McCain is is even worse than Bush.
But all of that aside, on the question of fiscal responsibility which was presented last night, which was presented along the lines of: 'Senators, a bipartisan budget agency has reviewed both of your plans and has indicated that both plans would make the deficit worse, what specific actions would you take to make cuts in the budget {in order to balance it}'
Obama began to speak generally, until pressured to mention something specific when he said he would cut a $15 billion insurance subsidy to companies sponsoring Medicare supplemental plans.
McCain said that he would pull out the 'hatchet' and have an across the board spending freeze and then go through the budget line item by line item, with a 'scapel' (pushing for a line item veto of course), but again when pressured to mention something specific he said he would cut ethanol subsidies and also noted that he would eliminate tariffs on Brazilian sugar ethanol!
Poor 'Joe the Plumber' - can we leave them out of this.
One of the better moments for Obama came when McCain was attacking his affiliation with Ayers. McCain's attack was jumbled, appeared desperate and made little sense. Obama's response was eloquent, substantive and, unlike his opponents ramble, made sense.
This one is essentially over, it should be Obama by a landslide. If you're voting for Obama, act like it is NOT going to be a landslide because that is how you wake up to a 'Dewey defeats Truman' headline!

Agree, but he will be judged on the results. I don't envy him his job. May be hard, difficult and take tiome to restore the economy.

Cut total spending and / or increase taxes. That does not rule out redistribution. Here some politicians say that the correct redistribution (e.g. from people with low to people with higher prepensity to consume) can contribute to growth in a difficult periode.

I reacted to the same.

Fully agree. Disappointed me a little that Obama got involved in the same form of argumentation.

Re: Sara Pailin's eye blinking and foreign policy.
The best 'dodge' was when the moderator asked: 'In your FIRST TERM, by what percentage can you reduce America's dependence on foreign oil?'
Neither of them wanted to answer. Neither of them wanted to answer because in four years, if it doesn't happen, well then they might actually be judged by the results of their promises!
Both responded that within TEN (10) years....x,y and z would happen. In 10 years, neither will be President, so if the goal isn't met, well, it doesn't really matter anymore, they're not the President....
Did you catch that one?

Re: Sara Pailin's eye blinking and foreign policy.
Mc Cain are still talking about Joe the Plummer today. Now it is May be there are nothing more of Joe's money to spread around, since it has gone to tax reduction for the rich and Joe has paid for bailing out Wall Street. This is a well known tactics here too.
As an economist I have more trust in Obama's economic policy and what he will do for Joe the Plummer.
I agree with Jeffry Sachs that called Mc Cains economic politic surrealistic.
Oil independence is IMO retoric. Too large companies are involved.
This is my view.
I miss Jack Cafferty on Cnn. Where is he?

Re: Sara Pailin's eye blinking and foreign policy.
Yesterday, I had a party for my family. We started talking about the US election.
I said that Sara Pailin would have done better as a teacher at a Christian school.
My daughter, Helene, asked. Would you really want her to be a teacher?
