Hi,
We have a client who wants a secure FTP facility set-up. Do any of you guys know the best route for this? So far I have found options ranging from a few quid, to several thousand! They want to encrypt csv files and use secure FTP to transfer to a third party. Any ideas or pointers would be much appreciated. Thanks, Robert |

Least costly way to do secure file transfers is via a remote access application such as Citrix's GoToMyPC. As such channels are themselves encrypted, the client need not encrypt the data unless post-transfer security is an issue.

Hi incrediblehelp & deepsand,
Thanks for the info. Somebody else has also suggested that you can set-up sftp via your ordinary FTP software. Not quite sure if that's the case, handy of it was! incrediblehelp: Why not just set up a FTP location through your cpanel or host? We can set-up hosting for them, and even extra ftp folders. however they emphasis that they want the ftp to be sftp. My tech abilities are limited to basic stuff. Is this possible? Cheers, Robert |

You can find a few free SFTP server options here -> List of SFTP server software - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia and another here -> sshwindows.sf.net: OpenSSH for Windows

Unless one end of the desired transfer resides on your host, there is nothing to be gained by involving it.
