Open Office vs MS Office 2007 - which is a better product? Which uses more resources?

Worth paying 75$ for MS Office Ultimate 2007 on this site or using Open Office for free?

for a regular bloke like me who uses application like this as often as I have my haircut. i guess its ok to say the open office. though i am new to it and haven't explored much of the options yet, I choose it over ms office

Uni work, so Word Powerpoint and Excel mostly. Like using Onenote too.

I did pretty software and I know MS Office 07 is hot looking, how does Open Office look?
