Should we be ashamed of being men?
Two very brave women need our admiration and support. In alphabetic order: - Aung San Su Chi
- Benazir Bhutto

Re: Should we be ashamed of being men?
No, but I would be ashamed to post links to pictures when these women have exposed themselves to assassination for their principles.
Pictures? WTF, what is your point?

Bhutto is no saint, remember that.
What are you trying to prove, kgun? You want Hillary Clinton to win, now this. Some kind of compensation for a guilty conscience?
Pictures, sheesh.

I'd agree that 'brave' describes them both quite well...

Re: Should we be ashamed of being men?
Miss Bhutto is hardly a role model.
During election campaigns the Bhutto government voiced its concern for women's social and health issues, including the issue of discrimination against women. Bhutto announced plans to establish women's police stations, courts, and women's development banks. Despite these promises, Bhutto did not propose any legislation to improve welfare services for women. During her election campaigns, Bhutto promised to repeal controversial laws (such as Hudood and Zina ordinances) that curtail the rights of women in Pakistan. Her party never did fulfil these promises during her tenures as Prime Minister, due to immense pressure from the opposition.
Only after her stints as Prime Minister did her party initiate legislation to repeal the Zina ordinance, during General Musharraf's regime. These efforts were defeated by the right-wing religious parties that dominated the legislatures at the time.
[edit] Policy on Taliban
The Taliban took power in Kabul in September 1996. It was during Bhutto's rule that the Taliban gained prominence in Afghanistan. She viewed the Taliban as a group that could stabilize Afghanistan and enable trade access to the Central Asian republics, according to author Stephen Coll. [11] He claims that her government provided military and financial support for the Taliban, even sending a small unit of the Pakistani army into Afghanistan.
Recently, she has taken an anti-Taliban stance and has condemned terrorist acts committed by the Taliban and their supporters.

Re: Should we be ashamed of being men?
.....but she hasn't actually achieved much (yet ?). Still, at least we know who she is. If she'd been in America, they'd have salted her away in Guantanamo or somewhere, and we'd never have heard of her.

Why yes, Kgun, yes you should.
It would be proper to find yourself a woman who will make
your life miserable from here on in to atone for your shortcoming.
Ron Paul for president.

I love that,
Happysmoker said in ref to Aung San Su Chi
" .....but she hasn't actually achieved much (yet ?)."
Oh happysmoker, This beautiful woman will never be measured by any yard stick. Achievement is not difficult.
I have an unwritten list of the ten most beautiful women in the world. I have two lists
one list is of women I never wish to meet.
this Is headed by Goldie Hawn. She heads my never to be met list. I would not want to meet the real Goldie - her image and film persona is a fantasy - I would not want to break this fantasy - I love the fantasy
second is Aung San Su Chi, It would be a sin to waste her time.

Re: Should we be ashamed of being men?
Don't hate me because I am beautiful.
Haha
Women that changed society for the better?
Let's list some of them then, I will start with Rosa Parks.
There are many.
Quote:

On December 1, 1955, Parks became famous for refusing to obey bus driver James Blake's order that she give up her seat to make room for a white passenger. This action of civil disobedience started the Montgomery Bus Boycott, which is one of the largest movements against racial segregation. In addition, this launched Martin Luther King, Jr., who was involved with the boycott, to prominence in the civil rights movement. She has had a lasting legacy worldwide.

Re: Should we be ashamed of being men?
To clearify the heading and my post.
Look at the date of the post. It was written when Bhutto returned to Pakistan and people (most probably men) tried to kill her and killed a lot of her supporters. It was some weeks after the killing in Myanmar where military dictators (men) hold a woman, Aung San Su Chi, democratically elected by the people in jail.
Difficult to comprehend that analogy?

You seem to be stuck on the first four letters.

Re: Should we be ashamed of being men?
I bolded two words for you.
The post title is no more precise than a heading in a news paper.

Re: Should we be ashamed of being men?
Still wrong. It's not an analogy, and you didn't bold two words, but one word, twice.
Increase your dosage !

The happy smoker is correct.
Do you need mathematical precision like mikmik?

Good for you. That is an analogy. A heading in a newspaper can go as far as being a lie.
Glad to see you hold yourself to such standards.
