Yes SEO is difficult. The most difficult thing for me is getting quality inbound links.

My cartoon would go differently...

Scene one... Rankings "Oh you guys suck bad" (Thank God I'm here)

Scene two... Rankings "it's improving... give it some time" (1-2 months in depending on the quality of the client, and by that I mean finishing the tasks that I've assigned them)

Scene three... Rankings "WOW we're #1... well now that we're here we can't afford you anymore"

Scene four... Rankings "Why aren't we #1 anymore? did you turn something off? No... you stopped working with us 3 months ago... remember? OH so what's it going to take to get back to the top again?... LOL twice as much!

ain't it the sad truth? I've had that happen with 3 or 4 major companies in the last 4 yrs... they just don't understand that it's an ongoing thing I mean... if you make it to the top... definitely fire the guy that got you to the top! it only makes sense!

I agree! Optimizing a certain site requires lots of effort to rank it on top or in the first page of search engines..."client depends on you"

Of course, maybe the site in the first cartoon was top 3 because of the efforts the PREVIOUS consultant put in?

He got fired before his efforts paid off!
