Little Girl Missing!

I got today this mail for an owner of a small search engine in the UK upon registering my site there.

I already follow the story on TV, and maybe you too.

So I thought here might be a good place to publish the message. Who knows!

As you are aware my niece, Madeleine, is still missing and I am asking
everyone I know to send this as a chain letter i.e. you send it to
everyone you know and ask them to do the same, as the story is only being
covered in Britain, Eire and Portugal. We don't believe that she is in
Portugal anymore and need to get her picture and the story across Europe
as quickly as possible. Suggestions are welcome.

I urge anyone who cares to download the poster at Bring Madeleine Home Madeleine has a very distinctive right eye: The pupil bleeds out into the iris so the image of her eye looks scratched..

There was allegedly a sighting of her in Morocco, but this young girl could be anywhere by now and must be found.

in the Evening Standard (*a London evening newspaper) a few days back which made much of the fact that unscrupulous web site *operators* are using this story for their own advantage with adsense sites etc.
Personally, I find this absolutely repellent....

On the official website Bring Madeleine Home there are a couple of banners to download as well as multilingual appeals for information.

I don't know whether anyone else here who has perhaps looked at the official site thinks the same, but the only constructive suggestion I would make with respect to these banners is that they are possibly too large to be used on sites/blog sidebars. ( 450x 124 and 544 x 150 ) You can download the banners on the official site here News Items
IMO, think smaller sized blog buttons might be more appealing as well as they would be better suited for blogs/RSS feeds.

Thats just disgraceful. Even the official site has been spammed a few times.

These are idiots that have a black area where their hearts should be.

I totally agree with you - there is a time and place for spammy adsense sites and I really don't think this is one of them.
I know it is easy to get carried away in a wave of mass hysteria (esp post Princess Di) but I think the reason this story has struck a chord with so many people is that it flies in the face of everything you think of as safe. The family are very switched on media-wise, but I can't help but think that things don't look so good given the amount of time that has passed since.
