Default Top Scariest moment on TV: Whats yours?

Hi all

Given that its Halloween and Lo and behold, Channel 4 (UK) have been showing top 100 scariest moments on TV, as voted by the British public). From some film at the turn of last century where it appeared a train was driving through the cinema to some of the latter day gore, I have just experienced 4 hours of scary moments and soley films (soap opera moments, music videos, and public information adverts also featured).

But the No 1 scariest moment according to the British Public is the Shining where Jack Nicholson shouts "Heres Johnny!" and hacks through the door after his family. OK the film is quite freaky but I always thought that most of the Exorcist was the most scariest moment (Even without the er crucifix scene).

So to a worldwide forum, what is the most scariest moment on TV in your opinion? Are public information films in other countries as freaky as our "How to survive the aftermath of an A-bomb explosion" from the 70's?

I would really love to hear what y'all think.

Personally, the scariest moment would have to be the hot tub scene from About Schmidt...

If your not familiar with what I'm takling about... lets just say it envolves Kathy Bates, and leave it at that.

Still gives me the shivers.

Default Tabloid News

My grandmother used to watch tabloid newscasts (like Hard Copy and Current Affairs) and I remember watching a story on a man who went to use the restroom, and while doing his business, someone jumped from behind the shower curtain and stabbed him to death. This had a lasting impression on my young mind and to this day I am wary of closed shower curtains...

since i don't really consider a movie moment an actual TV moment, i'll disagree with the shining choice. the scariest thing i saw on tv when i was younger was The Day After... either that, or the Trilogy of Terror with that bastard zuni fetish doll.

The Ring and The Grudge are so far, the scariest movies I've seen.

The classic - Night of the Living Dead
But to make it really scary - view it for the first time at a drive-in movie, late on a black night with no stars and a fog rolling in.
If you have to drive home on a foggy old country road afterwards I guarantee you will be tense in the seat.

I think it probably was the moment when Lurch walked up to Gomez and said, "You rang." Shivers! lol

In my childhood, ChildsPlay, Jaws were the most scariest movies. Now there is none.
