I hope y'all don't mind me posting this one, but it's a different way to donate. I began a drive that is already gaining momentum. I already have drop-off location for the donations in California, Michigan and North Carolina, with potential locations in Pennsylvania, Washington DC and Virginia currently being worked on.
It's called Operation Teddy Bear. So many agencies are already working diligently to provide for Katrina survivors physical needs of a shelter, food and clothing. The goal of my drive, however, is to assist with the emotional needs of the children who have survived the devastation by pulling together as many teddy bears, rag dolls, security blankets, etc so that each one can be presented with one small gift of a comforting item. We are following the same concept that police officers and ems use already of presenting a teddy bear (or other stuffed animal) to children in distress because of their soothing effect by having that small gift to hug and hold on to.
So I would so deeply appreciate anyone that is willing to link to our site and help promote our effort, I have a couple of banners up at
http://www.donate-a-teddy-bear.com/link.php. And if you are just curious about us, feel free to stop by as well! We are just one other option for donating! Thanks a bunch!
