Default Totally unrelated Word question

I know, I know...this is a web world bunch of folk, but maybe one of you knows the answer to this :-)

In Microsoft Word, the help files occasionally refer to 'current run only' as opposed to 'all runs'. As in Control + Shift + Bold is the shortcut key for bolding the current run only, while Control +B is for bolding all runs. None of us have been able to figure out the difference and can't find it mentioned anywhere in Word Help, Microsoft Support, Google, etc.

Any clues? If you want, I'll review your site if you give me the answer :-)

Thanks!

Ctrl + B is a bold on shortcut
Shift + Ctrl + B as far as I know in office xp shift is a null key in this formula
