Default Shedding pounds.

Hmm... time for new clothes. But when shopping, the issue of what size to buy is always perplexing this time of year. So I ask myself, do I get what fits now, or do I get what I think will fit better in a few weeks, if I happen to lose pounds.

That's it, there's no other option, I need to shed a few pounds. But going about it is the next challenge, which happens every year as well. Forget new years resolutions, they never work. I guess the time to really get things done is in the spring, getting geared up for summer.

I'm wanting to get rid of a few winter pounds now that the sun is out, jackets are off, and summer is a'commin.

Yeah I know, moderate eating and excercise, yadda yadda yadda. Just wanted to be the first to the cliche. Now that's out of the way, I guess I need a plan -- note that I didn't say 'diet', because those don't work for me either. Atkins, South Beach, blah.

I know I'm not obese, but heck if I can get into a good routine I can keep and isn't 'drastic' to get into (ie, abstaining from carbs ---- I might as well abstain from breathing while I'm at it).

I don't work out like I used to, and of course that's the problem, because the lifestyle has changed anyway -- getting to a gym (and wasting the fees if I dont) isn't the answer.

So here's my plan, anyone tell me what you think. Gradually increase cardio excercises that aren't too time consuming, and focus on more sit-ups and crunches. Knock off snacks after 9 PM, stick to diet drinks, increase water consumption. I think that's my plan.

In a word Bullworker, I've had mine for years. Gardening at the weekends is essential, as I'm stuck at my desk taking calls, submitting, posting. I don't drink coffee or tea, I stick to cold squashes, light lunch - rye breads. Evenings red wine, no spirits. Fresh vegetables, which is not hard in Lincolnshire.Fruit, chicken, beef, pork etc and the odd cigar lol

All of us computer geeks probably share the same area of concern - our butt! I'm on it way too long everyday just keeping up with work.

Now that the weather is nice, my husband and I work in a nice little walk after dinner. I try to get another walk in during the day, if it's nice. Doing yard work is enjoyable and strenuous so that helps.

We cut out butter and salt (my weakness) and cookies (my husband's weakness) and I don't drink pop of any kind anymore, only water and my morning coffee. I changed my breakfast from cereal to yogurt and I feel so much better all morning. We don't each much red meat (only chicken) and we both have spinach salads for lunch during the week.

I'm almost ready to buy new pants that are one size smaller and I can't wait - it's great incentive to skip a cracker or two or three or the whole box.
