Default Reflections on the Pope's Passing

Reflections on the Popes Passing:

God rest his soul. He was quite exlemparary in passing on with dignity.

In fact, he was exemplary in many ways including acknowledging other religions and forms of worship. He lived Communism in Poland and understood oppression at it's most severe realization.

I fail to understand though, in his leadership role, why he did not get the abuse of children by Priests under control under his domain. I also wonder why he never came out publicly against that kind of abuse (at least that I know of). Many Parishes have gone bankrupt due to these issues! That is no menial issue. Why wasn't it dealt with more directly and publicly?

Should the Catholic Doctrine align itself more closely with nature, and allow Priests to marry?

Just an ex-"Alter Boy's" thoughts.

Ken

I guess what surprises me most is how he never spoke publicly on behalf of the victims of the scandals. He did defrock a few priests but what did he ever say to the victims to give them hope or inspiration?

The foundation is built on such an old world way of thinking that it may not meet the needs of today's youth and this scandal doesn't help encourage them. I'm sure the Catholic Church struggles with how to address the tansformations of the 20th century alone. The cardinals have to consider how the church wants to move forward as it makes its papal choice.
