Default Keep Your Friends Close

After recently being diagnosed with terminal cancer a friend of mine died in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

His name was Phillip Green, a thoroughly admirable man who was respected greatly by many. He is survived by both parents; his wife, Tracy; and son, Martin.

My greatest regret is that over the past 2-3 years circumstances meant that I've been wrapped-up in college work and haven't surfaced as much as I would have ideally liked.

My point is this:

Don't get yourself so wrapped-up in your work that it excludes having a life and sharing the companionship of your family and chosen friends.

God alone knows how long we each have, "savour and share" the days you do.

Rest in Peace Phil

Default Time is prescious

My condolences, pete61uk. Although your pain is fresh, another member and I are grieving over loss right now, and I offer my limited understanding.

I've admired you for your insight and awareness ever since you joined this forum, and, because of my similar 'philosophy' to your's, I never miss a chance to tell my family and friends how much I love and appreciate them, I'm always willing to compliment and recognize others and biuld those bonds.
Please take care, and know that your friends are many. I will say a prayer for Philip, Tracy, and Martin, and carry your wishes for them in my thoughts.

Had my 'insight and awareness' been on form I should have predicted your post.

mikmik, Thank you.

Default loss of a friend

A dear sister-friend passed out of this world on Dec. 26, 2002. We are having a memorial for her on Dec. 26, 2003. She was a kind, thoughtful and intelligent woman who faced much in her life. And we plan to celebrate her life with food, song and dance. and I am sure some tears. We will come together from far and wide to pay homeage to a woman we all loved.

pete61uk my thoughts are with you. Celebrate Phil's life. And if you can in the years to come share your memories with Martin. We only truly die when those around us forget we existed.

I understand your feelings all to well pete61uk. Having lost a very dear friend just a short while back to cancer also. I too had become to involved in what I was doing and simply never found the time to tell him just how much he had taught me in life, so much of it without saying a word, but instead simply showing understanding; or what a dear wonderful friend I considered him to be. I have since not let those opportunities pass me by, and I make a point of telling those who I care about just how much they mean to me.

Please let the famly know that they will likewise be in our prayers, in hopes that they can find some comfort in knowing that their loss is shared by others around the world, in this their time of mourning.

mikmik and ALL:

Though not "fully on-line" (I'm too damned tired right now) your kind messages of support have helped greatly and have been passed on to Tracy and Martin.

The funeral is set, with a brief service at the home, for Tuesday 23rd at 10:45 am before proceeding to the crematorium.

A Biker funeral, friends and club members from all over the United Kingdom and Europe will be attending. It is safe to say this is going to be a send-off the likes of which I have never seen before.

mikmik:

We have discussed death before and, whilst I am being helped to come to terms with my immediate feelings of loss, I am mindful that we are none of us alone, that others are experiencing the same.

To them I would say that when my time comes I know I will meet Phil again, that this life is not an end, but merely a small part of a cycle that goes on.
