Do you know a "Flashing 12"?
Do you know someone who is a "Flashing 12"? Chances are you do. If you are new to the term, it simply means a person without tech savvy. It comes from the fact that you walk into their house and their VCR / DVD player has a flashing "12:00" because they don't know how to program it.
For the record, I never program mine either, but you know...too much time on more geeky things.
Personally, I feel bad for these people because of how swiftly technology advances, and like to help them get caught up to speed. But the biggest challenge is, explaining things.
For example, on this site, Rob (the owner) explains how to describe "podcasting" to flashing 12's.
I'm sure we've all been there, trying to tell family and friends what "affiliate marketing" is. Or it could be explaining to a flashing 12 what the difference is between a domain name, a url, and hosting is. Maybe your flashing 12 is a client.
I guess it's good to be geek...until it's time to explain things. Can you?

Love the term! I think 90% of our clients are "flashing 12" types up here... hence the drinking habit. <wink>
I think my business partner and I are pretty patient when helping our "flashing 12" clients - it wasn't too long ago that we were just learning this stuff ourselves.

Look what happens when I take a couple of days off. C is the story teller and there goes the topic!
If it was not for the Flashing 12's .. we would all be out of business.
Question.. if they are the Flashing 12's.. what are we?
Steady 10101010's ??
Is that an incoming message I hear?

OK, I've fought off bears bigger than the likes of you two! I just show them my Tikka T3 and they leave me alone, "they" meaning all beasts, human or otherwise...

A Tikka T3 stainless steel shotgun made by our friends at Beretta...it's a big gun. Don't worry, it's so heavy I can barely lift it and I'm too chicken to shoot the thing. I leave the shootin' to the hubbie...I just carry it to look vicious. :)
