Default TO: ALL STAFF

FROM: HUMAN RESOURCES

It has come to our attention recently that many of you have been turning in time sheets that specify large amounts of "Clerical/Research" (Code 12). To our department, unproductive time isn't a problem. What is a problem, however, is not knowing exactly what you are doing during your unproductive time.
Attached below is a sheet specifying a tentative extended job code list based on our observations of employee activities. The list will allow you to specify with a fair amount of precision what you are doing during your unproductive time. Please begin using this job code list immediately and let us know about any difficulties you encounter.

Thank you. Attached: Extended Job Code List Code # Explanation ---------- -----------

I worked with a production artist who, if she logged her 6207 hours, she would have had 3 or 4 real working hours one week. When the boss caught wind of it due to our magazine behing WAY behind schedule, her comment to the boss was "when am I supposed to plan my wedding?".

She ended up with lots of extra time for planning her wedding; unfortunately she had less money due to sudden job loss. :)

Default Pretending You Like Important People

Howdy Wenwilder!

Upon reviewing the extensive list - I found I've dabbled in the following activities:

6223 Pretending You Like Coworker
6224 Pretending You Like Important People when in Reality They are Jerks
6238 Miscellaneous Unproductive Fantasizing
6350 Playing Pranks on the New Guy/Gal

LOL - Max

Amazing how often this happens isn't it? However, I tend to deal with people who repeatedly do the following:

5603 Complaining about Coworker(s)
6602 Complain

While they really should be:

7419 Talking with Miscellaneous Paid Professional on Phone ;)

I really can't fake liking someone. I tend to tell them exactly what's on my mind before I think about it. And if I did think about it I still would tell them what I think.
Is there any codes for my type?
I am the type that has to stay in due to my ability to get arrested quickly for mouthing off to a police officer or something else.

I wonder where "6969 Sleeping Your Way to the Top" went in that list. :D

When I last worked for a corporation (vs. working for...well, me!) I was REPEATEDLY guilty of the following:

5322 Vicious Verbal Attacks Directed at Coworker
5400 Trying to Explain Concept to Coworker Who is Not Interested in Learning
5401 Trying to Explain Concept to Coworker Who is Stupid
5402 Trying to Explain Concept to Coworker Who Hates You

Between those four, there wasn't time to get to the rest of the list.

Actually, I liked the job itself. It was so easy a trained chimp could handle it. It was the people that were difficult.

I did, however, solve the problem of one of the laziest and most idiotic coworkers. By applying all four at once in front of a supervisor in March of 2001, and basically getting the supervisor to back me on the issue (since I was right), I apparently was responsible for the coworker showing up the next day with a heart X-ray and promptly going on short-term disability.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Canadian version of short-term disability, it allows a worker to take a medical leave of absence with full pay for 6 months, provided (s)he has a doctor's reason to do so. However, by showing up for one week every six months, apparently the guy's eligible to go back on it for another six months, and then repeat the process. I actually have outworked the guy since 2001, which is scary because he is a full-timer and I was a part-timer with half the hours, and I quit in June of 2002.

6612 Staring at Computer Screen

is my personal favourite - it is amazing how much brain power planning what to wear that evening takes up (I'm young and shallow and make no apologies!)

this also co-incides with
6221 Pretending to Work while Boss Is Watching

if you stare at the screen with some html code or similar filling it, the boss has no idea what it is and I have perfected a permanently puzzled look as if I'm working something out.

v funny list made me laugh on a friday afternoon! thank you! i will be in the breakroom more now!
