Skype
Just curious who here Skypes, or wants to conference Skype (can be up to 4 people, or 5 people i think). If so, what time are you on. I hear the clarity is good, just like a phone but through your pc.
If so, just wondering who's interested and what when, what time. Hey, it's free. We can post on WPW while talking and surf with ales and giggles, or something like that.

Can you imagine the full WPW membership (50,000+) skyping at the same time?
Talk about the Tower of Babel! :o)

I'm on UK time, good old Greenwich Mean Time. The clarity is excellent, far better than a traditional phone.

Lol, well, these days a lot of computer terms end up as verbs, like googled, google this, google that ("to google")... I just wanted to be the first to say Skype me, lol.
I'm going to download it tonight when I'm at home, so I'll post when I have an account made.
Are you on at nights in Greenwich time or mornings, afternoons...?

Most of the time I'm surfing, I'll have Skype running in the background. Although I don't have it automatically load on startup... I do like to enjoy my morning coffee before speaking to another human being! :o)
Sounds like I'll be hearing from you soon!

Well, I found this cool 'sun map' that shows time zones around the world, and when it's an appropriate time to call. Looks like it's about 10:42 PM your time at the moment -- 7 hours apart from PA, KY and Toronto, 10 hours from Mikmik in Kelowanakapia.
This is a handy tool to bookmark, as a sidekick to Skype. http://www.worldtimezone.com/datetime.html
BTW, is it me, or is my picture gradually changing. I swear I used to have more eyebrows. That would be one heck of a trick Jeremy or Rah could play on us, modify our pics in small unnoticable increments until we look completely different. In a week we'll all be completely grey with 5:00 shadows, and different clothes...

it's all part of a WPW master plan to take over the world. Site Admin are turning us all into panda bears. Psst! Don't look now, but we're being watched! Just try and act natural.. and take that bamboo shoot out of your mouth! :o)

I just don't need 15 types of accounts, so "SKYPE" or "WHIPE" that!.. I take care of clients and communicate with my wife and others thru "MSN Messenger", We are in contact any time of the day or night... Beyond that - I keep a stock of "toilet paper" where it belongs.
I am "open-minded" though.... Show me something good... What do I really need?
Hate to be a "Nay-Sayer", but it just won't float without "marked" advantages, which I just can't imagine, and don't see..... Could someone point them out?
"KISS" - Rules! - and it's already in place!
LOL,
Ken

Do we all get free USB Phones from WPW?
Hey this has got ctabuk's mind racing, clearly it is a great concept, why has it not taken off yet?
Paul does not talk to Human Beings until he has had coffee, obviously single. I had a flat in Down Street, Mayfair when I was 20, how did I manage that?

Skype and Voice Over IP
LOL!! If I had a flat in Mayfair I certainly wouldn't be single for too long! :o)
Re: Skype and VoiceOverIP
Communication using Voice over IP (VoIP) software is quite a hot topic at the moment. Companies such as Skype and Popular Telephony are both offering free telephone calls over the Internet rather than on private IP networks.
The software uses 'peer-to-peer' technology, which behaves in a similar way to instant messaging software. In order to contact someone else they must first have the Skype client software installed on their PC or PDA. There is also the 'SkypeOut' facility that allows the user to contact mobile phones and landline numbers at reduced rates.

VOIP is all the craze in Telecom, right now. Switches are being changed out to accomodate the advancement in technology everywhere right now.
Where proprietary software will "fall out" in the process is better left to oversights like AOL made, IMO.

Hey I want a flat in mayfair.
Ok I'm done being a Skype evangelist. Yall can be left in the dust, oookkkk, fine have it your way. I will simply go home and talk to myself.
Hmm, you're right. Nothing has changed. :D
Wait a minute, Skype is good because it's free, and you don't have to type, and talk to someone on the other side of the earth with your voice and it doesn't cost you a thing. But if you all want, you can just wait and register much later, and all the good names will be taken and you'll have to be greeneag9527305984, or ctabu957203957034958. Or you can heed my advice and not miss the boat.
KISS Skypes and so do Pink Floyd. I talked to them last night, so ptptptpt.

Ok, I lied. I didn't really talk to Pink Floyd or KISS. But Skype is cool, nonetheless.

I don't say this to scare anyone, but it is made by the creators of Kazaa, though it does not contain any spyware or adware. If you want a better 'skinny' on it (as mike would say), check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skype.
Anyway, I hope to catch up with all of you on Skype.
