InformationWeek the major telecommunications companies are set to enter the race into our living rooms. The rush to stake a digital claim into your primary entertainment/marketing consumption area has been going on for some time now among some of the more computer/tech oriented companies like Microsoft and Sony. Xbox and Playstation game devices already serve as Internet-ready DVD/CD/MP3 players the next generation of both devices promise even more expanded features. In effect, pulling your TV and computer slowly but surely closer and closer together.
Companies like Verizon, Time Warner and Samsung see the value of the highly coveted position in front of your easy chair too. This years International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas was among the largest shows of it’s kind with a record number of exhibitors showing off a mind boggling assortment of the latest and greatest in wirless flat screen digital plasma high-speed whatzits and wireless ultra slick gizmos in all shapes and sizes.
Soon we’ll be able to call the office, check our email, upload web pages, play a video game and pause our live TV as we sit and relax in our living rooms. Sounds… great.
