Default Calling My Clients Using My Business Name - Fraud

We have a new client that we've just launched an eCommerce site for so they are not even indexed in the search engines yet. I just received an email from them stating they have received three phone calls in the past week in reference to their web site. The callers have been using our business name, which has confused our client, of course. Our client eventually hung up on them since the caller spoke with a heavy accent that was hard to understand, plus there are only TWO of us in the company who would even call them so they were suspicious.

This really worries me, especially with our new clients, since many of the people we work for don't really understand how the Internet works. It also worries me that someone is out there using misrepresenting our business!

Please post a reply here if you've had a similar problem with someone posing as your company and calling your clients. Thanks!

Default Tracking

Marcie, Hi,it sounds to me as if you have a Company nearby using a new website tracking system that once a newsite is up and running you can access the host and find out who is running the site. I think I know how they are doing it and I'll post it later. But from the sound of it they are trying to pinch your clients. Not nice

Thanks for the feedback. I'd be VERY interested to find out how someone is tracking our new clients... We just launched two large eCommerce sites this week so it might explain why they've been called.

And you're right, that's not nice...and lazy. Sheesh, find your own clients, eh? :)

Default Frightening Stuff

Hi, if you have High Profile clients or if you are simply very good at your job then you might find this a little alarming!
