Default Does it Bother You or Is It Just Me?

My system runs slow, and that’s just my speed.
My Dlink keeps going down, well … is it just me?

Others might complain, that is just their style.
But I just laugh and continue to smile!

Today could really get to me… It grips me like a vice… BUT!
We are on the first page at GOOGLE for educational flash cards! TWICE!

Please post a review of our site!

Thanks!

My site is for children so, we have an image to consider...

I would not want to have something come back to bite me... have to find a different forum for the original version.

I would appreciate a posted review from you of our site, I will return the favor if you like!

I would have checked your site out... but you did not have your url in your signature.

Thanks,

Ok I think you could have made the frames invisible to make the sight smother and I’m not to large of a fan of having to drag down a menu frame to see the bottom options or info maybe you can condense toy menu to standard non scrolling size if you are going to disable the scroll bars.
Other than that the site navigates easily and flows well.
maybe post a testimonial section or more business background.

globalhostinggroup,

Thanks for looking,

You are saying that you do not have the 1024 x 768 resolution... So, either reduce the frame content or add scroll to my navigation frame.

I have 'no fames' pages and I like them better because of the reasons you listed.

http://www.schoolhouseflash.com/Scho...me_Page_nf.htm

Would this work and look better?

I am contemplating losing the frames, but maybe I could just make adjustments as you pointed out.

Default 800x600

• 640x480: 7%
• 800x600: 53%
• 1024x768: 31%
• 1152x864: 2.5%
• 1280x1024: 2.5%
• other: 4%
this means you should always look to 800 x 600 design
and yes the second option fixed the menu block problem

Afraid the W3C doesn't agree with your stats globalhostinggroup, in fact they have shown 1024 x 768 is leading the pack as far as resolution settings for nearly a year now. They also state very clearly on the stats page that current trends are showing a growing tendency toward 1024 X 768.

As of January 2004 -

1024 x 768 ~ 47%
800 X 600 ~ 37%

http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_stats.asp

Given their rate of growth at 2% every 3 - 4 months, that would place current use of 1024 X 768 in excess of 50%. Although the stats on my website won't support that theory, they do indicate resolution settings of 1024 X 768 in excess of 45%.

Other reports I've read indicate that the trend is seen to differ substantially on a geographical basis, and Canada would be one of the areas where 800 X 600 was still strong at that time. The US and Europe were however leading the way in the trend toward larger monitors.

Although designing in 800 X 600 seems to be an acceptable practice, and in fact I've even seen a few sites designed in 640 x 480 (for the one or two of those left in the world!), it is also an easy avenue out. With but a minor bit more work most sites can be made to play well at any resolution, and thus limiting your site to 800 X 600 is not always a prefered option. Personally nothing irritates me more than sitting here at my 17 inch monitor and having someone's webmaster try to show me a website on a 13 - 14 inch screen! Use a percentage based width rather than fixed pixels, and make the web a happier place to visit!!!

Clicken ~ you might want to include the following link to the Power Point Viewer on your site. This is a free download that will allow those that don't have Power Point to play your Electromath presentation.

Rocky,

I had a short visit at your site and really like the design of it... It is straight to the point in an appeasing way. I think that short pages don't need pictures when the author can express the imagery with words. From what I have seen, you know how to do that well, I appreciate your interest and input.

I believe it is the type of animation that I am using, something to do with action upon click. I remember seeing this as an exception in the product features when the new version was announced. I will check it out again though.

globalhosting,

We have added pages for each screen resolution and as far as we can tell, it is working and anyone willing to wait a minute for loading... it should show great inprovement. I have not had a chance to tweek those pages yet.
*****

I don't think there is anything I can do about the loading time until we do some conversion. When misterscreenjeans was adding the resolution pages and script, he made a comment " no wonder it takes so long for this #%*! thing to load...it's a mess" but I already knew that because net machanic told me. Due to past happenings I try not to mess with the code.

Thanks again for helping and if you have a minute... check out our new resolution pages. ( you needed to get coffee anyway right?)

My Dlink PCI is not my favourite pick,
There's really got to be a more reliable NIC.

Thank you clicken I appreciate the feedback on the site.

As for the Power Point viewer, I just did a semester of Power Point in college, and the viewer was suggested in our text as a means allowing those without Power Point to view one's presentations. Upon seeing the Power Point download on your site, I thought it might offer an alternative for kids whose parents weren't able to afford Power Point, or whose computer's might not be capable of handling it.

Not sure if it plays without, it may... I seem to recall something about being able to install the viewer on your server so that the presentation could be played from the site.

Was only trying to get the material out there for a few more kids is all. Hopefully the link can brighten an extra child's day. In fact I'll bet Mik already has it downloaded and is playing with the Flash Cards!

Nice site Clicken, had the time to run through a few of the Flash Cards and you've done some great work there. A LOT of work too, I might add. As you already suggest, it is unufortunately a bit slow on dial-up. My hat's off to you however, for making the kids' day! Great work!!

Oh, WOW!

After reading the product features, there is a renwed hope that all visitors to our site will be able to use our program. The privious viewer excluded certain animation action settings we used and it was discouraging.

Rocky1, I can't express enough my gratitude for bringing this to my attention again.

I could run another poll and see if this works...

Thanks,

*****

Still...
not a day goes by that the Dlink doesn't fail. Maybe 2 1/2 miles is too far, to expect any better than this.

SMILE!
