Gravity Probe B. It's about Time.
Wenwilder inspired me on this thread:)
So it's about Time... There is an Albert Einstein's idea about Big massive objects may influence on time and space. So this April NASA launched a special device to check out this assumption.
Read more here - http://www.gravityprobeb.com/
Can't wait to see if he was right or....wrong;-)

"This directory contains documents and interactive Java applets which explore aspects of both Newton's theory of universal gravitation and Einstein's general relativity.":
http://www.fourmilab.ch/gravitation/
Relativity (Special, and General) explained, including the first two experiments that have so far verified the theories:
Quote:
http://zebu.uoregon.edu/~js/21st_cen...res/lec07.html
The how and why remained to the domain of what is called general relativity, a complete theory of gravity using the geometry of spacetime. The origin of general relativity lies in Einstein's attempt to apply special relativity in accelerated frames of reference. Remember that the conclusions of relativity were founded for inertial frames, i.e. ones that move only at a uniform velocity. Adding acceleration was a complication that took Einstein 10 years to formulate.
|
Problem?
Both general Relativity and Quantum mechanics (Copenhagen interpretation) cannot be correct. But they have both been experimentally verified to accuracies of greater one part in 100,000, the limits of our technology....(and the math?)
The search for TOE continues :O)

Funny thing
Thanks you liked my post Brittany:-) You know what funny is? I don't remember I had any interest to fundemental physics when I was study at high school and now when nobody forces me to study I like it:-)
Mik I'll take at look at the links you posted for sure.
And...it's time to read morning email as usual...

'Scuse me for getting excited, but when I see people talk physics, and that they learned on their own yet, they are like me, and I like it.
You are fascinating, Artyom, and there many here, Brit...oh yes, but physics is a passion.
It is one I let go of for years, but I meet people again here.
Truth is far more fascinating than fiction, and we live in a beautiful universe. I am constantly awed

"Mass and energy are identical in nature." A.E
Wich is means: E=mc2
This is good for people interested in the subject but yet thinking it is too complex or that you have to be a physic or math expert:
http://www.alberteinstein.info/PDFs/...lish_pp3-6.pdf
I call Relativity:
"How to explain that Mind and Soul exist as well as the Body."
3 expressions of the same being: 2 energetical (M and S) and 1 material (B)
Great subject.

In other words,
E - Mind
c - soul (a constant thing), something you obtain at birth and you can't grow it, either you have it BIG or not.
m - body (variable quantity)
So as much body weight you have as clever you are?:-)) Just kidding....
I believe it's about body size not weight.
Take a look at all dictators in a history! They all were short, weaking people.
But from other side it might tells about being kind but not clever and smart as there are a lot of big dumb guys as well at this world:-)

But, did the dictators have soul?
Mind and body, energetical.
Metaphysics:
The soul, obtains when they exist harmoniously...
Physics:
The mind, obtains when the physical brain (part of the body) functions...Laws of thermodynamics...never violated
The mind.
Is it us?

Ph? Phc? and now Phd!
Artyom's own experience:
I don't remember I had any interest to fundemental physics when I was study at high school and now when nobody forces me to study I like it:-)
Man, it is nothing different from that of my own experience! Work while you work...play while you play.. a remarkably, mrmorable schooldays!
Mike, if they had any soul and mind, they too would have been like you and me, an ordinary ones. Relativity of existence, Body - visible' the rest are the real energetic ones that are not visitble, but can be felt; (Gisella is highly experienced in this particular subj, I know). Don't you feel the air and breath it too? Yeh, the relativity matters to existence.
Mike's magic touch: The mind. Is it us?
Sure, magnetic path travels too long a distance, in the earth's thrust of mass velocity. Over to Maths. Mass. Mars. .. and Mess. http://morbidium.diaryland.com/issues.html
and for a change -

TRS: A glimpse of astute observation, bordering on the psychic, presents a present with his second link
Ahhh... Music to my ears!
Quote:
Introduction
While it was once thought that questions now understood as simplistic when viewed from perpendicular perspectives such as "How high is up" and "How deep is down" were meaningless and obtuse, these very examples have succumbed to the robust puissantance of the precisions of Perpendicular penchants. Thus creating a vacuum in the pseudosphere of hyperspatial logistics of antimath. As noted by Dr. McAlavy PL.D in his insightful work: A Theory to Explain the Groorg Phenomenon (1996) the resultant instability requires that the issue be approached parenthetically through perpendicularity utilizing the pseudo-psychological theologism of the Plank Phenomenon (This is the neoscientific proof text demonstrating that one can avoid breaking their mother's back by walking on planks across the cracks in side walks and it's corellary that steping on the same plank when it is only partially on the sidewalk and hanging off the curb is correlated with nasal pain (r=0.9999, df = 0 P<.00000! 00000000000000000000000)).

Should these that write this, also be here? They sound like it!
G, the student of all, understands the oldest, almost, philisophical mystery:

Yes, finally, it's about time time was looked at :O)))
Are we new? Each moment is new, are we?
TRS, I try to flatter you with immitation, but only you have the arts of "trs talk", very ingeniousely labeled 'engrish' by a teacher of wit.

I have a question...and I found no trace about my suppositions in the internet...
This experiment is named Gravity Probe B right?
Then...what experiment was probe A? That very first one made to find proof positive that gravity is affected by Time...
And there comes my supposition.
...hihihiiii...
Was it the observation of an elder woman...naked?
Cos that is the cheapest and easiest way of demonstrating that gravity is influenced by Time...
:oP
Looking forward to helping me with this quiz.

Eight hours apart and you wake me up with a smile. Whoever your "significant other" is, he must be grinning like an idiot.
Artyom, good subject:
"I believe it's about body size not weight.
Take a look at all dictators in a history! They all were short, weakling people."
What these people might have lacked in stature or health they made up for in the force (or mass) of their intelect. An increase in mass has been proven to affect the measurement of time.
Using your (G's) analogy, it could explain why people intimately connected to monumental events have the impression that they will last for an eternity?

Hey, I just felt a gravity fluctuation..or was it a time warp? Time for the next level of 'support' undergarments.
Peace

A few words off the topic
I was just checking Gravity Probe B official site and has found any news so far - I hope they have not found something spooky and passed it immediately to militaries;-)
Anyway I was thinking about if Earth really influence on time and space and.....it reminds me the law which seems doesn't have any exceptions and works always for me:-)
So - these days it's really warm outside so I decided to wear leather sandals (the ones we bought at Turkey this May when I was on a week off with my honey Olga) and feel air more then at running shoes:-)
And guess what? The weather is about to get worse, it's already chilly outside and tomorrow it'll become worse. So that's the point - I take umbrella - it's a sunny day and vise versa, I wear sandals - a weather getting worse....etc.
I know it calls Parkinson law, but I believe this is also the way to influence things, what do you think?;-)

Puts me in mind of Gene Kelly and "Singing in the Rain". That kills that particular theory. He had shoes AND an umbrella!
Parkinson, sort of feel the shakes coming on - Oops, WRONG Parkinson. Do your feet itch when you wear sandals. St Vitus Dance, perhaps?
Get your Hi-"G" suits on, I can feel a "Tango" coming..... Dum dum dum dum, da-ra da-ra Ra, Dum dum dum dum, da-ra da-ra Ra, .......
